Oh, how I love the Spring... Every year I feel like it literally passes by so quickly here in Southwest Florida. Our 80-90 degree weather is upon us. We are seeing our daily afternoon spurts of rain. I cannot complain, however, because we see that the birds are chirping and butterflies are all over our passion vines.<br />
<br />
In our house we've been bird watching with our freshly built bird feeders. Our regular feathered guests are mostly Red Cardinals and Blue Jays. It's been so nice to enjoy seeing nature in our own back yard. Thus, I've been doing a lot of research on building a kid friendly backyard that is consumed with our own personalized bits and pieces of enjoyable fun. I have found amazing things consisting of recycled tires, pots of flowers, and beautiful bird houses. <br />
<br />
Here are some fun butterfly clips that we did for our "spring" unit. My participants include my three year old son and my six year old who adores them just as much. We placed them alongside our bird houses and they are oh-so, beautiful!<br />

<br />
It super easy to use. You can print it or use it virtually. The choice is yours!<br />
<br />
I did a comprehensive study on what the average two year old milestones are and how to incorporate this into lesson plans. <em>Two days</em> of toddler learning a week is going to be our starting point for Tot Spot activities; anything more, would be torturous to my very active two year old. The topics are very basic and cover all subject matters tailored, by you of course, to incorporate any form of activities for those topics. You can personalize your activities, use online resources, or Pinterest to find great teaching activities, games, and printables for your babies.<br />
<br />
Or, you can keep it very very simple. If it is a sensory topic, you can gather different textures from your linen closet and talk about the textures with your eager tot. Simple. <br />
<br />
If you are interested in further information regarding the resources for lessons, and how I selected what topics to focus on in the two days that we are going to teach then I can provide them to you upon your request. I hope that you are able to enjoy this planner- and that you are more than willing to share ideas on adjustments that need to be made or tips on what you think needs to be changed.<br />
<br />
Thank you and enjoy!<br />

I have found such wonderful idea's on Pinterest that I was able to successfully plan my son's birthday, which was in March. The theme was "What Little Boys Are Made Of." I wanted to incorporate decorations that we would be able to place into his room after the party was over. Everything turned out lovely!</div>

</div><div style="text-align: center;">At our house, we love this time of year for giving, receiving (because what kid doesn't!?), and for creating presents. Every year we've made our own ornaments. Last year we made salt dough shapes and decorated them with glitter. We also made some cinnamon ornaments. My babies are getting so big. Every year I have made a mold of their hand print so this year I started looking for to incorporate something to this regard into an ornament for Christmas. And then..I came across this beautifully simple and elegant <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/196680708696263934/">snowman fingerprint ornament</a> from <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ4d2JjI_zrtm3gByqSB4W652-ZFisa8H_Dy3lCmmb28W3n9wDJCX7jorbp3MvGb_Na2D6FG_y_H21RLy4AcbaLEQ2U-itnsAr_v6yrWglrqY968JwIGwArnd3z8ku3kMaXPwpUo0E3eU/s1600/IMG_2757.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ4d2JjI_zrtm3gByqSB4W652-ZFisa8H_Dy3lCmmb28W3n9wDJCX7jorbp3MvGb_Na2D6FG_y_H21RLy4AcbaLEQ2U-itnsAr_v6yrWglrqY968JwIGwArnd3z8ku3kMaXPwpUo0E3eU/s640/IMG_2757.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNMuQIRmwE_edOPpB9tfq69DGDKabs48ppggA1pWtzq00SQO9Spsqx1cEraVkRSoCIO8TUobiNnHxbo9An28XlBH8tqckuArxqbTHt7q6Ty8xPIJauNmj9M1G9NlNaAYWOsWUFcCLDwds/s1600/IMG_2941.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNMuQIRmwE_edOPpB9tfq69DGDKabs48ppggA1pWtzq00SQO9Spsqx1cEraVkRSoCIO8TUobiNnHxbo9An28XlBH8tqckuArxqbTHt7q6Ty8xPIJauNmj9M1G9NlNaAYWOsWUFcCLDwds/s640/IMG_2941.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">I used this <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/196680708696265891/">homemade clay recipe</a>. It was extremely easy to make and didn't take much time. You combine about a box of baking soda, one cup of cornstarch, and one and a half cups of water. Combine all of the ingredient and then cook on medium heat until the mixture thickens-stirring consistently. If you do not want to create your own clay, you also easily purchase clay from the craft store.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">*The clay took about three full days to dry and while it did, I decided to keep rotating and flipping the ornaments. Note to future self. Be careful because this recipe causes uneven cracking to the point of no return. I bought a sealant for the ornaments because I noticed the cracking and that seemed to slow down the process. Unfortunately, some ornaments just didn't make it!</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRjuHm25vT2Pf7yJl0mgbPSBfw5XzhWwCTVvC4oJhYg8n8KGE91iQ371iYLQb6sc7TCb9H7-3SPnFPaEDlZAjXmy0lfMw6lOD2oVB26MCsqqtbxK4EC5OLNuYfrgNBcfShLI450V_T5j4/s1600/IMG_2944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRjuHm25vT2Pf7yJl0mgbPSBfw5XzhWwCTVvC4oJhYg8n8KGE91iQ371iYLQb6sc7TCb9H7-3SPnFPaEDlZAjXmy0lfMw6lOD2oVB26MCsqqtbxK4EC5OLNuYfrgNBcfShLI450V_T5j4/s640/IMG_2944.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Aside from that.. they still came out looking beautiful, simple, and so very honestly made. Mark Jr. has the reindeer ornaments and Harmony's are the snow ladies. We stamped their initials, which I would recommend waiting until AFTER the ornaments dry.. something I clearly didn't do. Punch a hole for the string and then light brush over the finger print area with crayons or paint until it becomes visible. We waited about 2-3 days until they dried and then sprayed them with a sealant to protect the exterior from cracking.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Harmony and I really enjoyed creating these and plan to give them away to friends, family, and to her teacher as Christmas gifts.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now, we have this..</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">I thought about this idea for the kids to unwrap some items around the house and thought, what better gifts to unwrap than library books? They get to open one Christmas book a day. I wrapped about six books for now, but plan on getting more from the library. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"> It is so fun to see the kids open one a day to see what we get to read for story time! I used my stamp set to write the name for each number, as Harmony is learning new numeral sight words in school. I also used newspaper for the wrapping, which I thought turned out beautifully! The best part about this Christmas fun is that it is FREE and didn't take me but five minutes to wrap the books up and toss them under our tree. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I wasn't sure if I wanted to create a new "advent calendar" tradition or to just experience something unique and enlightening with her. For the Holidays, my husband and I have decided that we want to teach patience, giving, sharing, and appreciation. So much of these qualities diminish throughout the holiday season because we all get so caught up in gift giving and seasonal purchases. It is too easy getting lost in the clutter and crowds, isn't it? My goal is to establish the sense of loving our belongings that we have now, instead of constantly begging for more, and taking the time during this holiday season to have fellowship amongst our families. Fellowship is something that always gets left on the back burner when it's the gifts and wrapping paper that should be. Well, not literally of course! </div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">In my search of advent calendars and other family traditions, I kept hearing all of these wonderful things about this book called, "<a href="http://truthinthetinsel.com/buy-the-book">Truth in the Tinsel: An advent experience for little hands</a>." This book includes daily activities that share the story of Jesus and his birth, as well as an ornament a day to go along with each part of the story. Although our household is by far a religious household, I want Harmony to experience The Christmas Story firsthand, rather than guessing or wondering what the differences between Baby Jesus and Santa Clause are. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Day 1: Candle Ornament: "The Light"</td></tr>
</tbody></table></div><div style="text-align: center;">This book is an absolute depiction of the Christmas Story, detailed on explaining most of the story through the creation of a daily ornament. Harmony and I have had fun making our ornaments. It has been rather hard keeping her "involved" in the story long enough to really explain what everything means, as some of elements and passages read in the bible are not too accommodating for a younger child but we read the scripture's none the less and discussed what it is we think the meaning of it might be. </div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Day 5: Mary</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">So, what have we learned? I figured if Harmony didn't take anything else away from this fun experience than at least I could use it as a moral lesson on teaching kindness, giving, forgiveness, and to appreciate what we have. "We should share our spark and our light to the entire world." This is something that we have been saying a lot in our house and I don't mind that positive encouragement and enlightenment one bit. :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">If you're interested in doing it with us and thousands of others, feel free to stop by and get <a href="http://truthinthetinsel.com/buy-the-book">Amanda's</a> book <a href="http://truthinthetinsel.com/buy-the-book">here</a>. I promise, it is not time consuming unless you want it to be nor is it tedious. You can use the materials you have on hand to create your ornaments and spend as little to no time everyday before or after your kids go to school. The book is beyond worth it!! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I don't have a lot of space for Fall/Autumn inspired decorations so I have been very selective with what we have been creating and hanging around our home's living area. I am so often inspired by awesome garlands of all shapes, themes, and sizes, and decided that it was time to grab my little Harmony helper and get to work!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We made Ghosts, Spiders, Pumpkins, Leaves, and used a shaving cream painting technique for our Fall Leaves. I did most of the cutting. Harmony is still learning to plunge into what she calls, "Snipping".. Everything turned out so unique and with an elegant appearance. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Look at how we did... My other helper was my glue gun and hole punch. I used scrapbook paper for each fall creature and then hung each on up on fishing line. Our spider was made out of a bottle cap, felt fitted and then glued on top.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkLgugB8lyrRptM5fHaclYiM1CPBKRDujL29QN7I_7KogjhpYXqxcD8txs2KPDuDPm7MgssY7HOkjAV7d5WL7Qcwlj_a1WqlTgVsZb-kQt1kogRT6IixTVD4U8D40RNbIotu0yFir54qk/s1600/hall+garland.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" rda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkLgugB8lyrRptM5fHaclYiM1CPBKRDujL29QN7I_7KogjhpYXqxcD8txs2KPDuDPm7MgssY7HOkjAV7d5WL7Qcwlj_a1WqlTgVsZb-kQt1kogRT6IixTVD4U8D40RNbIotu0yFir54qk/s640/hall+garland.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

<strong>Apple Tree's for Sewing:</strong></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
* Drew the tree top and then the stump on two different types of scrapbook paper. You can use construction paper or even newspaper!</div>
<br />
* I then sliced up a cereal box to provide more support for the tree (you can use a cardboard box.. a cereal box is thinner so it's easier to cut)<br />
<br />
* Modpodge your tree and stump onto the cardboard and wait for it to dry.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
* Cutout after they have dried.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
* Glue tree onto stump. (this is entirely optional, but much easier if you are making these for sewing)<br />
<br />
* Grab your hole punch and start punching! :)<br />
<br />
* Measure your yarn (I found that threading the tree's was the easiest way to go about this so you could figure out just how much yarn you're going to need)<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

* I cutout felt apples for Harmony's complicated sewing apple tree. For the smaller tree I cutout circles and then stems. I glued them onto baby food jars that I've had saved up for art projects so Mark Jr. (18 month old) can handle the smaller pieces more easily AND so he doesn't eat them. He loves doing that. :)<br />
<br />
It was super easy! My hand is killing me, however, from having to punch all of those holes for Harmony's tree. I kept Mark Jr.'s (on the left) simple so he could get accustomed to stringing it through without becoming frustrated. I can't wait to see what they think tomorrow!<br />
<br />

This is a shapes worksheet that I whipped up tonight. Harmony needed to practice her shapes, which included the trapezoid and the hexagon. Unfortunately, I couldn't find many worksheets offering this so I decided to get creative! :) You can have your child trace the shape and then draw it by free hand. I also had Harmony practice writing the shapes name underneath when she was completed with the each set.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />

I have saved this box for a few weeks now because Mark has really enjoyed tossing it around and playing with it so I decided today, that we would make it into a car because his favorite toys are firetrucks and cars. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaH48aOAMIpFsBcGXK_j9tO70gwBQqATT2RfVFrIt9e4qYY329yOePBWbQXoilXxlz94sl675dX7lSatS1Xo4oV_Nugd-fIQO4xlpbksJ0CV1zanQEVUzLUtC2OKT3Qzc9-6_eG1MlW80/s1600/car+box+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaH48aOAMIpFsBcGXK_j9tO70gwBQqATT2RfVFrIt9e4qYY329yOePBWbQXoilXxlz94sl675dX7lSatS1Xo4oV_Nugd-fIQO4xlpbksJ0CV1zanQEVUzLUtC2OKT3Qzc9-6_eG1MlW80/s640/car+box+2.jpg" width="323" /></a>"Vrrrooooommm vrooooom", Mark Jr. loves to say.<br />
<br />
<br />
You start by cutting the flaps off of the sides of the box with a razor blade.<br />
<br />
Trace the shapes with things around the kitchen, such coffee tins and cookie cutters.<br />
<br />
You can use scrap cardboard to cut out the steering wheel and then attach it with wire, a tact, or use a paper clip.<br />
<br />
If you want to get super creative then you can even make straps and attach them to the sides of the box so your little one to walk around with their new car zzzzoooooooming all over the house!<br />
<br />
<br />
There are so many fun things you can do with recycled materials! My 16 month old loves his car, but I can tell you that as cute as the steering wheel is.. it isn't going to last five minutes!! I love it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Have a great weekend!<br />

All too often I hear, "MOM, I can't find my socks!" Or, "My underwear are missing!!" Most days Harmony enjoys being independent and gathering up what her daily necessities; her undergarments being number one on the list.. But lets face it, organizing a five year old's room is not easy. We have established putting toys away and picking up after we're through playing, not that it always happens. Although we have the basic methods of cleaning grasped, putting things totheir actual places has still been a little difficult. I made these labels to help Harmony to know where to put her most used and basic items. The labels have detailed pictures and words, as she is learning to read. I thought it was especially important to make detailed labels for her dresser because she is starting school next week.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4bvVqdc-zG1ODpXNRYENKD1D31OUryhsnRnuA79kgR32owT14PJSSb3u3xzQfcsTJbPV4nV-QRkzlEDd7DLsGQG1sJtn3uz7oIBU5zK1ynX5Rh1q8lOG8HMkhWgLG-JKX70E-iNYE2xU/s1600/IMG_1466.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4bvVqdc-zG1ODpXNRYENKD1D31OUryhsnRnuA79kgR32owT14PJSSb3u3xzQfcsTJbPV4nV-QRkzlEDd7DLsGQG1sJtn3uz7oIBU5zK1ynX5Rh1q8lOG8HMkhWgLG-JKX70E-iNYE2xU/s400/IMG_1466.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I made labels for her larger quantity items, such as her ponies, barbies, and their accessories. Since Mark Jr. was born, we have made it an attempt to keep small barbie accessories off the floor. Those pieces have been aimlessly thrown into the toybox where they become unused or out of reach. Therefore, Harmony was excited to see her favorite babies shoes and hair pieces all in one spot! </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ-0PWqdf3TLC5kaK3yKdI46JWkZwArzYsDMLg32qwXC-p7-rd5Az2Po9ahiKUHjxYOZE6lLTUKjOpta2n2cQLaD0D4fcZ-3YZPpdAhR1wGQR4YuvUdSfd71qlw9PSaUZXrccUbcq6zC8/s1600/IMG_1465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ-0PWqdf3TLC5kaK3yKdI46JWkZwArzYsDMLg32qwXC-p7-rd5Az2Po9ahiKUHjxYOZE6lLTUKjOpta2n2cQLaD0D4fcZ-3YZPpdAhR1wGQR4YuvUdSfd71qlw9PSaUZXrccUbcq6zC8/s400/IMG_1465.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Once I finished with Harmony's room, I knew that I was one a roll and that there are several, equally important things that we use on a daily basis, such as our toothbrush and toothpaste. These are basic words that she'll need to learn and that way she gets a visual tool daily..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Xxv847ieBUh4BXnlweSJF0PRuz-hBzw2kyuf_XYPtCz0xyKEJ_PFR4LX_dr6_Ch_DA97ruGuq6s1oe8JHhYbwzW_mtfUBOwCKmQ0Zh6Od2UTGo7ZiLF3jduuBw01weWcBbqFe7MYy1M/s1600/IMG_1467.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Xxv847ieBUh4BXnlweSJF0PRuz-hBzw2kyuf_XYPtCz0xyKEJ_PFR4LX_dr6_Ch_DA97ruGuq6s1oe8JHhYbwzW_mtfUBOwCKmQ0Zh6Od2UTGo7ZiLF3jduuBw01weWcBbqFe7MYy1M/s400/IMG_1467.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitxO6Qp6gqYB76f40lpjUJmvyt9Dj3nXItJEtkoyPUKHV00sYHsuPrKHslgq6xDBORNC02NcHsbNquxHNuv8BjJIa-8P3Nw7Jr1QSAFmXdtHhyKr8NsJvHeaK4G-0NtGDUWBXtX8LAJQI/s1600/IMG_1468.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitxO6Qp6gqYB76f40lpjUJmvyt9Dj3nXItJEtkoyPUKHV00sYHsuPrKHslgq6xDBORNC02NcHsbNquxHNuv8BjJIa-8P3Nw7Jr1QSAFmXdtHhyKr8NsJvHeaK4G-0NtGDUWBXtX8LAJQI/s400/IMG_1468.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Lastly, I made labels for the kitchen because Harmony enjoys fixing herself something to drink or occasionally making a sandwich. She tries to be independent in the kitchen with the supervision of an adult, which we allow within reason.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Do you need some help getting your children organized for school? If you are interested in using these basic labels, I have included them so you can download and then print them right out! We have been using the label system for a few days now and Harmony has done excellent with it! She has direction in her room, and so does her belongings.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have a great day!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><em><span style="color: #4b4b4b; font-family: Edwardian Script ITC;"><em><span style="color: #4b4b4b; font-family: Edwardian Script ITC;">Candice S</span></em></span></em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Harmony and I have been reading this collection based off of our love for the movie that came out in 2010, <span><span><span><span><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Ramona-Beezus-Selena-Gomez/dp/B00437IEI6?ie=UTF8&tag=rattlandredhe-20&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969" target="_blank">Ramona and Beezus</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=rattlandredhe-20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B00437IEI6" style="border: currentColor !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" width="1" /></span> </span></span></span>.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Ramona is full of love, character, and spunk. She and Harmony are very much alike (which is why Harmony adores the books). Ramona is always finding herself in predicaments or conflicts because of her curiosity, and often, she is told that she just needs to "grow up". You can read about her adventures through Pre-K until she is much older. This series is also about family, siblings, and unconditional love no matter what your transgressions might be.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<br />
For our Botany/Flower Thematic Unit, we decided to do some experimenting with seedlings and germination. Using beans right from your pantry are perfect for this lesson!! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's what we did.... <br />
<br />
<br />
We used approximately five or six Pinto Beans and soaked them overnight. <br />
<br />
The next day we placed them into an zip-lock bag (sealed half way) with a dampened paper towel.<br />
<br />
You can place directly in sunlight.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2rx_Gnr3fmDAZ3uOw93v2eX4sjcPyW7VoJOt8CRI-VlE_Y05d1fkR7bXMiUT8GnRZmQeRxT1NCqK2HaxZLCyaJwuRlw-5uG8573nDFUBUPtkA0-9MIj2tiX3lvlYZQHdr6UOrgmByS0M/s1600/germ+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2rx_Gnr3fmDAZ3uOw93v2eX4sjcPyW7VoJOt8CRI-VlE_Y05d1fkR7bXMiUT8GnRZmQeRxT1NCqK2HaxZLCyaJwuRlw-5uG8573nDFUBUPtkA0-9MIj2tiX3lvlYZQHdr6UOrgmByS0M/s400/germ+2.jpg" width="135" /></a></div>After about three days they usually start sprouting so we decided to let them grow for an additional day or so. We planted the seeds at about a week after germination.<br />
<br />
Harmony planted the seeds herself. She was so proud! We are still recording to every single day on the progress that the plants are making. They stand about four inches high at the present. <br />
<br />
Unfortunately, we only had two seedlings that were successful but so far so good. <br />
<br />
After they reach a certain height it is recommended that you provide them with support so they do not topple over and snap in half. <br />
<br />
Harmony loves taking care of her plants, watering, and seeing how big they've grown!<br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Harmony and I were hand making her "Fancy Nancy" birthday invitations (post coming soon!).. and I was inspired to make some bookmarks for both of my grandmother's and for my aunt. I "try" to be crafty and I am so often inspired. What might seem totally awesome to me might cause you guys to snicker at the additions and alterations that can be made..but bare with my utter excitement when I say that I love these bookmarks!! They came out so stinking adorable that I think I might just make some more... </div><br />

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Total time was approximately 15-30 minutes. We were crafting our hearts out so we lost track of time! These bookmarks were super easy. They would make great gifts for teachers, book lovers, and friends! I hope that you like them, too.</div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
